Summary

Abstract
This research was carried out to determine the important agronomic characteristics and quality values of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) varieties which are great importance in terms of quality roughage production in the Tokat-Kazova ecological conditions in 2014-2016. Experiments were set up with 4 replications according to the design of random blocks and the candidate varieties Emiliana, Gea, Magnum and Prosenii alfalfa were used as research material. The results obtained in both growing periods; Showed that the overall average of the characteristics studied varied considerably between two years, higher than in the second year in the first production year. In the results of working is determined that ıt was found that the plant height values varied between 78.1 cm and 85.72 cm in the average of both years in the alfalfa varieties and that Significant difference was not found in terms of main stem numbers and main stem thicknesses between the varieties, and the mean main stem numbers of varieties were 7,9-9, 4 pcs / plant, main stem thicknesses ranged from 3.19 mm to 3.32 mm. The green yields of the alfalfa varieties differed according to harvest times and years. 5 harvest total green grass yield; the highest candidate varieties with 13273.7 kg / da and Gea variety with 13013.7 kg, the lowest Emiliana variety with 11,875 kg / da, When the average crude protein ratios were examined, it was found that the highest crude protein ratio was found in Emiliana variety (18.88%), the lowest candidate variety (17.06%) and Gea varieties (17.16%).
