Abstract
A Research On The Precautions Necessary For The Maintenance Of Budded Walnut Seedlings Against Late Spring Frost In Tokat
Grafted walnut tree production is always insufficient for demand that has been regularly increased in recents years in Tokat, although success in budding of walnut seedling is eno¬ugh high, grafts are highly demaged because of the late spring frosts. In our research, the maintenence methods that shall decreased the rate of damage to a minimum level, has been worked to determine.
It was tested the growing methods under plastic tunnels, styropore or straw in plastic pi¬pes and compared with open field conditions. Yalova-1, Yalova-3 and Yalova-4 walnut va¬rieties grafted on to Juplans regia L. The rate of seedling has been determined after late spring frost the grafted varieties to depend on applied maintenance methods. The result of research, average %83.3 seedling has been obtained to maintenance buds under the plastic tunnels. In the result the maintenance method can able to apply in the large areas as econo¬mically.
