Abstract
Research on the Effects of Different Phosphorus Dozes on Root, Nodule and Plant Growth in Some Vetch Species
This reseacrh was conducted to determine the effects of phosphorus fertilization (0, 4, 8 and 12 kg P205/da) on root, above-ground biomas and nodule development of vetch species (Vicia villosa, V. pannonica and V. sativa) in the experimental field of Agricultural Faculty of Gaziosmanpaşa University in 1997-98 growing season.
Common vetch had the highest above-ground biomas, number of nodules in the latheral roots and total nodule number whereas hungarian vetch had the highest root biomas, number of nodules on the main root and nodule dry weight. Phosphorus fertilization enhanced all the parameters investigated. As a result of the study it was concluded that phosphorus doze of 12 kg/da could be recommended for an optimal root, stem and nodule development in vetch species studied.
