Abstract
The Effects of Inflation on Agriculture Sector in Turkey (1983-1998)
In this study the effects of high ratio inflation on agricultural products in Turkey has been analyzed. Current and real pricos of products have been compared between 1983 to 1998 time period. According to this comparison an increase of currend products prices have been found. In this sutudy also, the inputs and products prices are compared. As a result, it was determined that for the vegetal production chemicals, irrigation water and labores prices influnced the purchasing power of farmers. On the other, hand, a continuous increase in seed, pertilizer and fuel prices was determined. In animal products labor parities was found out to he the most important factor influencing inflation. During the survey period, input parities have been calculated calculated, and the varierions of purchasing power of fanners and its relations with inflation have been analyzed. Generally, when the inflation ratio was hing, the purchase power of farmer has declined. In contrast, when the inflation ratio "was low the purchase power of fanners increased. According to the result of this study it was determined that high inflation affects sugar beet prices highly. In animal production egg (chicken) are also highly affected by inflation. Where as, tobacco and beef are the products which are very slightly influenced by the high inflation.
