Abstract
Comparison of The Photoperiodic Lighting Methods in Plant Growth and Energy
The aim of this study is to change the blossom time of chrysanthemum plant and to determine the optimum lighting method for the plant growth and energy economy by using the photoperiodic lighting methods. The experiments were conducted according to randomized block design with three replications under Çorum conditions. Rescarched treatments are as follows; M1-Day lengthening method (6,5 hours lighting after the sunset), M2-Night break method (4 hours lighting between 22.00 - 02.00 hours), M3-Cyclic night break method (15 minutes lighting and 15 minutes darking between 22.00 - 02.00 hours), M4-Controlling method (No lighting). M1 and M2 methods gave better results based on the LSD test performed over the treatment means. M2 method is better than the other method with regard to energy economy. However, we need to know which one gives us the best result in the farming of large areas. Our results showed that M3 method had the optimum conditions in economic lighting in the farming of large areas. As a result, farming in the large areas is possible by adjusting the lighting and darking times as artificial way through the year. According to the optimum energy economy, the M2 or M3 Methods is useful.
