Abstract
Socio-economic Analysis of Tomatoes Farms According to Risk Attitude in the Central District of Tokat Province
The aim of this study is to determine risk behaviour of farms producing in central districts of Tokat province. Data were obtained from 77 farms that were determined using Neyman Method via questionnaire. Behaviour of investigated farms to risk was determined by means of reference game and preference curve, and it was determined that 25 farms were risk taker and 52 were risk averse. It was determined that there were no statistically significant differences between capital structure of the farms and their annual activity results. Average farm land size is 40 da for farms that are risk lovers and 34 da for those that are risk averse. Nearly 70% of the land has field land characteristics. Tomatoes areas constitute 5% of the total farm land. Tomatoes have the highest gross profit per land in both behaviour groups. Tomatoes also have the highest proportion within gross income. Labour cost constitutes the highest ratio within farm costs. Farms in both behaviour groups have about YTL 6000 agricultural income. Total family incomes per capita are YTL 1280 for risk takers and YTL 1600 for not risk averse.
