Abstract


Determination of some physical properties of pistacia( Pistacia vera L.) nut and its kernel
To design of equipment to transport, separate, process and store, the physical properties of the agricultural materials should be known. In this study, some physical properties of pistachio (Pistacia vera L.) nut and its kernel were determined. The mean values of lenght, width, thickness and geometric mean diameter were 19.81, 10.94, 9.33, and 12.60 mm for pistacia and 15.32, 7.64, 7.03, and 9.71 mm for its kernel. The mean single fruit mass, sphericity, angle of repose, bulk and true density, single nut volume, surface area, porosity values were obtained as 0.917 g, 63.72 %, 16.97°, 539.04 kg/m3, 1050.18 kg/m3, 0.874 cm3, 5.00 cm2 and 48.62 % for nut of pistacia, respectively. The mean single fruit mass, sphericity, angle of repose, bulk and true density, single kernel volume, surface area, porosity values were obtained as 0,452 g, 60.55%, 18.34°, 518.82 kg/m3, 953.53 kg/m3, 0.474 cm3, 2,76 cm2 and 45.55% kernel of pistacia, respectively. The mean values of coefficient of dynamic friction against galvanized metal, mild metal and rubber surfaces were 0.248; 0.317 and 0.525 for nut of pistacia and 0.321; 0.326, and 0.798 for kernel of pistacia, respectively. The maximum and minimum static and dynamic friction coefficients were found for rubber surface and galvanized metal, respectively.
