Regain to the Nature of the Sand Quarry; The Sample of Esendere Sand Quarry
Mining activities contribute greatly to the economies of countries but unfortunately, they exterminate the existing natural beauty and environmental assets. Conducted by surface and underground mining systems, both activities ruin the balance of nature, pollute the environment, corrupt or chance the land shape and show a negative effect on living creatures. However, because of the increasing demand and needs every year, precautions should be taken minimize the negative effect on the environment of these unavoidable mining activities. For that, sanctions should be increased through legal arrangements and also organizational and financial structure for the biological restoration efforts should be established. In this study, a landscape restoration strategy for biological restoration at Esendere Sand Quarry, a serious nature destruction site, was prepared. With this project, while the financial activities processed through an organized management, emphasises was given on how to conduct restoration and nature restoration efforts. The study aimed to provide a framework for protection and restoration efforts through a land usage strategy by means of visual analysis and to define landscape impact of extraction on different sections of the quarry.
