Investigations on the Chick Growth and Chick Survival Rate of African Black Ostrich in Sivas Conditions
This study was carried out to determine the chick growth and chick survival rate of African Black ostriches. In the study, 55 ostrich chicks were used obtained from private ostrich farm in Sivas between July and September. The survival rate of chicks at three months of age was 76.36%. The average 0, 15, 30, 60 and 90th day live weights of chicks were 0.99, 1.61, 3.63, 13.25 and 24.82 kg, respectively. In this study, growth and survival results in the first three months which is regarded as the most critical rearing period of ostrich chicks were investigated in the environmental conditions of Sivas. The results were in accordance with the references.
